Review: City of Glass: The Mortal Instruments: Book Three

Title: City of Glass The Mortal Instrument: Book Three
Author: Cassandra Clare
Publisher: Margaret K. McElderry
Publication Date:
March 24, 2009

Summary: To save her mother’s life, Clary must travel to the City of Glass, the ancestral home of the Shadowhunters—never mind that entering the city without permission is against the Law, and breaking the Law could mean death. To make things worse, she learns that Jace does not want her there, and her best friend, Simon, has been thrown in prison by the Shadowhunters, who are deeply suspicious of a vampire who can withstand sunlight. As Clary uncovers more about her family’s past, she finds an ally in the mysterious Shadowhinter Sebastian. With Valentine mustering the full force of his power to destroy all Shadowhunters forever, their only chance to defeat him is to fight alongside their eternal enemies. But can Downworlders and Shadowhinters put aside their hatred to work together? While Jace realizes exactly how much he’s willing to risk for Clary, can she harness her newfound powers to help save the Glass City—whatever the cost?
Finally finished with City of Glass. It felt good to finish off the series and I am very happy with where Ms. Clare left the story…but we all want to know what happens next, don’t we?
Anyways, this was just as terrific as the other two books in the Trilogy. The plot was a very good one and I liked how (like with her other two book) she wrote the story from the different characters and their perspective.
I’m very happy about the ending…though I do wonder very much what happens to Simon. It was no surprise about Clary and Jace. I was happy for Luke. Many surprises are in store for all of you who have not yet read this book.
Ms. Clare has ended her breathtaking Trilogy just wonderfully!
