Armchair BEA: Intro

Sadly, again this year, I wasn't about to make it to BEA BUT I am participating in Armchair BEA! To being things off, here is an interview for you all to get to know me better! We're supposed to choose 5 from the list on this site! Here goes nothing!
Please tell us a little bit about yourself: Who are you? How long have you been blogging? Why did you get into blogging?
My name is Kailia Sage and no, it's not my real name! I'm a 17 year old high school student who will be a senior next fall (!!). I love all things bookish and I began blogging for that reason. I'm a huge English nerd and I would love to study it in college! I wanted to share my thoughts on the books I read. I was so excited to see that there were more bookish nerds out there! I've been blogging since 2009 but I got serious about it in 2010!
What are you currently reading, or what is your favorite book you have read so far in 2012?
Throne of Glass by Sarah Maas and it is SO, SO GOOD! It really deserves all the hype it got (and it's going to get).
Tell us one non-book-related thing that everyone reading your blog may not know about you.
A lot of people who are blogger want to go into the publishing business but I've wanted to be a lawyer (or do something involving law) since I was like 5 years old. As much as I love English and books and blogging, this dream hasn't changed. Maybe I'll go into law dealing with books or publishing, but honestly, criminal justice has always been the most interesting. I know, I know!
Where do you see your blog in five years?
Hopefully, it’ll still be around. But I want to possibly review adult books by then and hopefully a bigger audience.
If you could eat dinner with any author or character, who would it be and why?
J.K. Rowling hands down. I don’t care how clich├ęd it sounds, I love this lady and I would LOVE to sit down at dinner with her and pcik through her brain. I mean, she came up with Hogwarts and Harry Potter. Who wouldn’t want to get into her head!? Her books changed my life and I'd love to thank her for coming up with this wonderful world. And then I'd ask her if she knows why my letter to Hogwarts hasn't arrived yet! ;)

For all of you participating, leave your links in the comments and I'll check out your blog!

J.K. Rowlings is a fascinating person, you're quite right!   It would be great fun to explore Hogwarts, wouldn't it?

  3. I was just thinking the other day how interesting it is how many lawyers WRITE books ... and they usually work in their profession as the profession of a character. Very cool that you've wanted to be a lawyer since such a young age! Good luck! :)

J.K. Rowling is a wonderful author ... it would be so cool to sit down and lunch with her, maybe get a glimpse inside her head. The world of Harry Potter is a fascinating one!

    Happy BEA week!

  4. Hi Kaila! It's fantastic to meet you!!!! I'm also a 17 teen year old book blogger. I can believe that in two hours I will officcially be a senior!
I would love to meet JK. Hopefully she will decide to do a world tour in September for her new adult book ( that is one of my present dreams)
I'm a new follower and can't wait to visit your blog again soon!

  5. Throne of Glass was definitely really good! I told my Mom she had to read it as soon as I was finished with it.

I wanted to be a lawyer in high school... I always really enjoyed that class. That was a short lived dream for me, but I definitely still find it fascinating. That's so cool that you've had that interest so long!

  6. My brother was an English major who then went to law school and is now a very successful corporate attorney, so it is definitely not unusual to go from one to the other.  Good luck!

  7. Good luck with your college plans.  Keep an open mind once you get there, and most of all, keep reading!

  8. Enjoy your summer & have a great senior year next year. Carpe Diem!!

JK Rowling is a great choice. Think of all she created...especially how many readers.

  9. I think it's great that you knew from such an early age what you want to do with your life. I don't even want to tell you how old I am and I'm still not sure what I want to do!

  10. That's true. I do hope to be a published writer and a lawyer but that sounds like a lot of work, lol!

  11. Glad you liked it too; it's been one of my most anticipated! Yeah, a lot of people are surprised that I've kept my dream for such a long time but I'm ver serious about it!

  12. Yeah, I plan on majoring in English and pre-law in college and then off to law school!

    ReplyDelete
  13. Oh, I totally will. College is going to be a lot of fun but I know that's it's going to be a lot of work too!

  14. I'm hoping the summer goes well. I agree with J.K. Rowling. She's had such a profound affect on the book world!

  16. AHHH enjoy your Senior year! It'll go by so quickly, I hope you love all of it! I have a galley of Throne of Glass but haven't been able to get to it yet - I'm excited to read it since people have been saying really great things about it. And who cares if JK Rowling is cliche, she's a great choice! I'd love to sit down with her and find out about the woman who has such a wonderful world in her head. I've always wanted her to tell me a bedtime story (that sounds weird, I know) because I just imagine it to be this great, swooping world I'd get lost in.

    Lovely to meet you, Kailia!

  17. I love that you know that English and a liberal arts education will be great preparation for law school. I knew I was going to study English lit in college but had no idea what I was going to do with it - so I became a librarian!

I think authors are completely amazing and it would be pretty fun to sit down with any of them and talk about how they created their worlds. J. K. Rowling is a great choice for this because Harry's world is so incredibly rich.

  18. You know, it might sound weird, but even though I'm working on getting my Masters in English, I've always had a big interest in law as well! I don't think (emphasis on *think*) that I'll ever go to law school, but I've kept that thought on the backburner. :)

  19. Good luck on your senior year.  And Rowling would be an awesome pick to share a meal with, who cares if others think it's cliche.

  20. I'm so eager to read Throne of Glass! I have it (and the novellas)...just need to get around to them! Happy to hear it's as great as it sounds.

  21. Hey Kalia!

Always nice to find teenage book bloggers out there! Throne of Glass is on my maybe list right now but because of your shining review I may need to give it a shot and read an excerpt! I hope you're around in 5 years too and doing something else in publishing that's great!

  22. It's awesome that you know what profession you want to get into already! And I know a ton of people who would say JK Rowling too!

  23. I totally agree that J.K. Rowling is amazing :)

  24. *waves to Kailia* - real name or not, I LOVE it. It's so purdy. I may have to umm… steal (with permission) for a character in a story - is that okay? - xD

Also, go be a LAWYER. Seriously. That is AWESOME. I used to want to be a forensic scientist but then I realised, you know… I suck at science :P haaa. Now I either want to be a lecturer or well, anything to do with books, tv or movies! hehe.

Yay for J.K.! Isn't she just such an amazing inspiration? I simply adore her. Always will.

Lovely to meet a fellow HP nerd. xD

  25. Aww, thank you! You can use the name if you really like it ;)

Ooooh, I wanted to be a forensic scientist when I first found out about the awesomeness that was CSI!!!

  26. She is amazing!

  27. I really hope you give it a try!

  28. I haven't read the novellas yet but I might after I finish the book!

  29. She would! Thank you!

  30. Definitely JK Rowling!  She rocks my world!
I also just requested Throne of Glass on your suggestion! :D Thanks!

I'm so jealous that you've already read Throne of Glass! It's pre-orded on Amazon and I can't wait until it releases.

  33. I know several book bloggers who are or were lawyers; it's a very wordy profession. :) Lots of reading and writing-so it makes sense that would be something you'd want to do!

It's lovely to meet you and I hope you have fun during Armchair BEA.

  34. When I was finishing up my undergrad my objective was law school, but I want my doctorate more and so after hearing all the law horror stories I switched over. But law intrigues me so much! Criminal justice law, not so much.

There a ton of book blogger lawyers!

  35. Oh, and I totally added Throne of Glass to my TBR! Thanks for the heads up on that one!
