About the Girl

Well, hello there lovely readers! I’m glad you’ve found my blog! Since you’re on this page, you’re probably wondering who I am! Well, I’m a 22 year old girl living in the south which basically makes me a southern gal but I don’t think I fit that bill very well. I was born in India but I’ve lived in the southern region of the U.S. for more than half of my life. I was fourteen when I began this blog, formerly known as Reading the Best of the Best, and now it is astonishing to see how much it has grown since then! I began it before I was in high school and now I finished my second year of college. I guess my love for reading, writing, and talking came together to allow me to continue posting year after year.

Even though I love to read and I am a huge advocate for literacy, I’m studying political science at school. I want to be a lawyer when I’m older and live in New York City but who knows if that’s going to happen? However, I will always work to end illiteracy in the world and a library is one of the best places in any community in my opinion. I’m also a big advocate for diversity in books. I grew up wishing and hoping that there would be a book character who looked like me or shared the same culture as I did.

New York City from the ferry on the way to Liberty Island
I suffer from constant wanderlust. I want to see the world one day and travel to all of these countries I’ve read about in books. New York City is my dream city to live in and of the three times I’ve visited, I loved it even more than ever before. Paris is my favorite city in the world and I think it’s because I’m a hopeful, die-hard romantic. I once had a layover at the Paris airport and I like to think that it counts as me being in the city but one day, I hope the man of my dreams takes me there. See? Told you I was a die-hard romantic. I think this is why Beauty and the Beast is my all time favorite fairytale and Disney movie. Plus, any man who gives me a library is absolutely fantastic.

About the Blog

I began this blog on September 9, 2009 and the reason I remember the date is because it was 9/9/09. But anyways, I began this blog, called Reading the Best of the Best, because I was bored and I needed a creative outlet. I had just moved to a small town where I did not know anyone after my 7th grade school year (and lets be real, middle school was the WORST) so I needed something that would take my mind off of everything. I had always loved reading and writing was a passion of mine so combining the two was really interesting.

But creating this blog has to be one of the best decisions I've ever made. Through this blog I have been able to share my thoughts about all things books, life, and whatever else comes to mind. This blog is a place where I want to share my thoughts about the books I read, wether I like them or not, and seeing how readers of the blog like them too.

So there you have it! You get a great in-depth look at the girl behind the blog and why I created this blog to begin with. I hope you learned something new!
